Scouting Report:
Kyle Harrison was snagged in the 3rd round by the Giants in the 2020 draft due to signability concerns and was invested in well over slot and it has paid off for the Giants scouting staff. Harrison is a pitch maker with some good swing and miss stuff striking out 186 batters last season in only 113 innings pitched across high A and double A. Harrison also features a sweeping slider that plays up from his low three quarter arm slot and an improving changeup that could flash plus once fully developed. Harrison has the size and the pitchablity to become a front line starter for the Giants by 2024 assuming he continues on the trajectory he’s at. Consider him a low end #1 starter as his ceiling. He may never win a Cy Young but I do expect him to make a handful of All Star appearances.

2. Marco Luciano SS | Eugene Emeralds (A+)

Scouting Report:
When Marco Luciano was first signed with the Giants, he was one of the more highly touted prospects coming out of his Internal Free Agency class. His power is undeniable and it’s got one of the best grades among any prospect in baseball today. Luciano has slightly regressed and battled a back injury in 2022, while showing more swing-and-miss. With Arteaga ahead of him defensively at short, Luciano will almost certainly transition to third, and has a strong chance to move into a corner outfield spot.

3. Grant McCray OF | Eugene Emeralds (A+)
22-Years-Old | Bats: L | Throws: R | 6’2″ | 190 lbs. | ETA: 2024

.225 | 130 | 16.1% | 46.2% | 21.7% | 32.1% | 43.2% | 31.4% | 25.5% |
Scouting Report:
A raw toolsy outfielder coming out of the 2019 draft McCray was a multisport athlete in high school which put him slightly behind in terms of development coming out but there was athleticism and potential abound with him. The Giants invested a 3rd round pick on him and as he’s matured and grown within the game itself he is still struggling to find consistency on his offensive approach striking out 170 times last year between A and High A. Though raw in his 2 strike approach McCray is known to work counts and was able to get to his power in games slugging 23 home runs in 488 at bats last year. McCray’s athleticism shows up more in the field and on the bases as he has burner wheels and may swipe 30-40 bases annually. Also a versatile outfielder he has the arm strength and athleticism to play any outfield spot. A floor for McCray would be a 4th outfield type but if he can cut down on the strikeouts and find a greater consistency at the upper levels of the minors McCray should have a solid career as an everyday player.

4. Casey Schmitt 3B | Sacramento River Cats (AAA)

.197 | 134 | 13.0% | 41.0% | 16.8% | 42.2% | 39.5% | 25.1% | 35.4% |
Scouting Report:
Casey Schmitt was a 2 way standout at San Diego State before being drafted by the Giants in 2020. Though most of his 2021 was lost due to injury he really made up ground touch 3 levels of the minors ending his season with a very brief cup of coffee in Triple A. Schmitt has some real helium to his name and is rising very quickly. He made quick work of Double A in 29 games Schmitt slashed .342/.378/.517 good for an .895 OPS. The bat definitely plays and it’ll be interesting to see if he continues to Slug at the rate he did last season garnering 48 extra base hits. Schmitt has all the defensive tools to be a gold glover featuring an above average arm thanks to his days as a pitcher he can rocket a ball across the diamond at 96 MPH. He also has the lateral quickness in short bursts to make impressive defensive plays. Overall I see an above average player at the MLB level who will contend for Gold Gloves once Arenado retires.

5. Luis Matos OF | Eugene Emeralds (A+)
21-Years-Old | Bats: R | Throws: R | 5’11” | 160 lbs. | ETA: 2025

1.41 | 77 | 13.6% | 34.1% | 16.4% | 49.5% | 51.0% | 24.7% | 24.4% |
Scouting Report:
Luis Matos struggled at the plate in 2022, but the projection is there. He swings with loft and hits the ball hard that 20+ homers a season is a realistic expectation for the center fielder. Matos could boost his value in 2023 with performance, but his glove is really impressive in center, and he should avoid a corner outfield spot with how good his defense is.

6. Aeverson Arteaga SS | San Jose Giants (A)
19-Years-Old | Bats: R | Throws: R | 6’1″ | 170 lbs. | ETA: 2025

.161 | 101 | 15.1% | 33.4% | 21.7% | 44.9% | 48.2% | 23.2% | 28.6% |
Scouting Report:
Arteaga spent the entire 2022 season in the Low-A level as a teenager. He continued to show a lot of promise at the plate, but there were some apparent holes as well. At times, it appeared as if he tried to do to much in big moments and he come with swing-and-miss risk. His best tool is his strong arm and he’s got an impressive glove at short. All signs are leading towards him anchoring the infield at short.

7. Eric Silva RHP | San Jose Giants (A)

13.3% | 4.89 | 37.7% | 19.5% | 42.7% | 43.0% | 29.1% | 27.8% |
Scouting Report:
Eric Silva had a rough season in 2022 but has legitimate potential as a starter in San Francisco’s rotation. He possesses a fastball that sits in the mid-90s and has a four pitch mix. When he’s on top of his game, his curveball looks like whiffle ball curves, but he needs to find more consistency with his feel for it and have more consistent break. His slider is a an above-average pitch that he likes to pitch low and away to create chase. 2023 could be a big bounce back season for Silva.

8. Vaun Brown OF | Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA)

.276 | 175 | 15.9% | 36.1% | 22.7% | 41.3% | 44.7% | 28.9% | 26.4% |
Scouting Report:
Brown a 10th round pick in ’21 found himself up to Double A by the end of 2022. Brown has a chance to be a decent power hitter at the highest level but his sometimes pull happy approach leads to alot of swing and miss in his game. Brown struck out 119 times in 103 games last year. But balanced that with 23 home runs. Brown has the ability to be a versatile outfielder and would be capable at any position but may be above average in Left. Browns real calling card is his speed as he stole 44 bags in 2022. IF he can get to his power consistently enough you can squint and see a possible 30-30 hitter as the peak of his ceiling but it’s more likely he’ll end up sitting between 15-20 with full time at bats.

9. Ryan Murphy RHP | Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA)

10.8% | 4.14 | 41.2% | 16.7% | 42.2% | 48.0% | 23.5% | 28.4% |
Scouting Report:
Ryan Murphy is one of the more interesting pitchers on this list as his command is some of the best in the system. There was some injury issues that limited Murphy in 2022 as he lost time due to a back injury and elbow inflammation. But 2023 is a big year for Ryan Murphy, if he can stay healthy and show his stuff for the whole season, this is one arm who can really surprise some fans and evaluators. In turn, making his ETA sooner rather than later.

10. Reggie Crawford 1B/RHP | ACL Giants Black (ROK)
22-Years-Old | Bats: L | Throws: L | 6’4″ | 235 lbs. | ETA: 2025
Built like an NFL linebacker Crawford hulks in at 6’4 235 lbs. A two way standout player as an amateur the Giants will convert him to a full time pitcher. He was the 30th overall pick in 2022 despite an elbow injury costing him all of 2022. A lefty that sits comfortably around 97 and can touch 100 always has scouts attention but the fastball plays up with excellent spin rates and can be an overwhelming option. Playing off that is a mid 80’s slider with depth and can give hitter absolute fits when they try to sit fastball. If Crawford can develop even an average 3rd pitch he could easily be a future mid rotation starter but right now I see a perrenial All Star closer think lefty Taijaun Walker.
