Colton Cowser’s development has come along greatly for the Baltimore Orioles and they’ve managed to get him to tap into more power than he was projected for when he was at Sam Houston State. He’s a great on base guy who will provide plenty of doubles on top of the home runs. He’s absolutely crushed Triple-A pitching and is due for a callup sooner rather than later. This updated in-depth scouting reports takes a look at everything Cowser will bring to the table for the Orioles.

Video Breakdown

Here you can see how Cowser keeps his hands in on his swings and he uses his upper body to lift the ball out of the park. He’s not selling out trying to demolish each pitch, but keeps his hands in to barrel the ball. He covers the whole field and can hit the ball deep.

Final Thoughts

Cowser is just a glove tool away from being a potential five-tool player. While he’s only a 50 with the glove, he can play all three outfield spots and looks best in right, but has a good chance to compete for a centerfield spot. He’ll both hit and hit for power while getting on base at a prolific rate. It could take Cowser some time to adjust to big-league pitching, but I’m not worried about it. Once he finds his rhythm, he’ll be just fine. There’s a lot to love about Cowser’s skillset.
