Not to be confused with Dodgers Infielder Max Muncy (whom Maxwell Muncy shares not only a name but a birthday as well with the Dodgers star). But these 2 have some differences when they step on the field.
Muncy is one of the better Shortstop prospects in the class as well as the state of California. His calling card is unquestionably his incredible approach at the plate and feel for the barrel to all fields, not something you see often from a High School hitter.
MLB Draft Scouting Report
SS| Maxwell Muncy | Age: 18.7
**Age is at time of the 2021 July MLB Draft**

As mentioned in the report above, Maxwell Muncy has some of the best bat control and ability to use the entire field of anyone in the class. He’s as good a pure hitter as your going to find. Period.
The feel for wood and to consistently find barrels, even when fooled is a trait not many prep prospects have. Quiet frankly, not many prospects in general have that ability. Muncy has it at a young age and its going to make his transition into pro ball quick and easy.
There is a reason Muncy is on my short lists for favorite bats in the class… Watch the highlights below to get a feel for the type of hitter Muncy is, and why I am so high on the young shortstop.
I fully expect Muncy to be in consideration as early as the end of Day 1 in the compensation rounds, but very likely an early Day 2 pick coming off the board in the 2nd or 3rd Round. Hitters like this simply do not last long on Draft Day. Throw in the ability to at least start his pro career at a premium position at shortstop makes his overall profile that much more enticing overall.
