Harry Ford has done nothing but impress since being drafted in the first round in 2021. He looks to be the catcher of the future for the Mariners. I was able to see his debut in the Arizona Complex League and not only was his defense good but he was proving to have a solid bat to back it up. He’s gotten some attention from baseball fans as he excelled in the World Baseball Classic and looks to make massive strides in 2023.

One of the best players in the Arizona Complex League in 2022, Gonzales showed a good combination of power and contact while here. While he is one of the younger prospects on this list, he does have considerable upside to be a starting outfielder for the Mariners for a long time. He’s extremely patient in the box and gets consistent barrels. Gonzales is a bat first prospect as his other tools lack behind his bat but it’s so good he can get away with it. At the age of 19, Gonzales has excelled at each level of the minors and the Mariners could be aggressive with him, but this is one player to keep a massive eye on.

3. Bryce Miller RHP | Arkansas Travelers (AA)

One of the biggest rising pitchers in baseball, Miller looks to build off an incredible 2022 campaign. His fastball is firm, ranging from mid-to-high 90’s and a solid slider as his best secondary. He has massive swing-and-miss stuff and should continue to miss bats at a high rate going forward. In the end, Mariners fans should be excited to add Miller to a young but talented rotation highlighted by Luis Castillo.

4. Emerson Hancock RHP | Arkansas Travelers (AA)
23-Years-Old | Bats: R | Throws: R | 6’4″ | 213 lbs. | ETA: 2024

Hancock has had an up-and-down career to date, but when healthy he has solid stuff. At the time, Hancock was one of the safer picks with his stuff and command of the strike zone but injuries got to him so far in his career. 2023 could be a big advancement year for Hancock and we could realistically see him in the majors by 2024.

5. Cole Young SS | Modesto Nuts (A)

Young was the Mariners first round pick in 2022 and had a solid debut year slashing .367/.423/.517 with two home runs. Young is one of the more pure hitters in the Mariners system. Young’s hit tool and speed outweigh his power as both show plenty of promise. In the end, Young could be a good rising prospect to watch in this system and someone Mariners fans will love for years.

6. Tyler Locklear 3B | Everett AquaSox (A+)
22-Years-Old | Bats: R | Throws: R | 6’1″ | 210 lbs. | ETA: 2025

.220 | 121 | 12.3% | 42.6% | 19.1% | 38.3% | 45.3% | 30.5% | 24.2% |
Locklear was another 2022 draftee that oozes with potential and talent. The immediate tool to notice is his bat. Much like Cole Young and Harry Ford, I was able to see a few at-bats and what impressed me was his patient approach and ability to hit for power to all fields. Locklear has started his professional career off on a good note. If he continues hitting we could realistically see him at some point in 2024.

7. Taylor Dollard RHP | Tacoma Rainers (AAA)
24-Years-Old | Bats: R | Throws: R | 6’3″ | 195 lbs. | ETA: 2023
FB | CB | SL | CH | Control | Role |
50 | 50 | 55 | 45 | 60 | 5 |
IP | G | GS | ERA | WHIP | K% | BB% | HR/9 |
144.0 | 27 | 27 | 2.25 | 0.95 | 22.9% | 5.4% | 0.56 |

11.2% | 4.66 | 39.6% | 20.6% | 39.8% | 45.8% | 25.5% | 28.7% |
One of the bigger steals of the 2020 draft, Dollard has been nothing but consistent since being drafted in the 5th round. He’s always had massive strikeout stuff and it seems to get better every season. He’s risen rather quickly and has the potential of being a staple in the Mariners rotation but with how much rotation talent that’s coming through the Mariners system, Dollard could become a solid reliever with the stuff that he possesses.

8. Walter Ford RHP | ACL Mariners (ROK)
18-Years-Old | Bats: R | Throws: R | 6’3″ | 198 lbs. | ETA: 2026
FB | CB | SL | CH | Control | Role |
60 | 50 | 55 | 45 | 50 | 5 |
*No Stats for 2022 Season*
Ford was the Mariners 2nd round pick and has some serious velocity for his age. He throws 96-97 mph and has some extremely unique mechanics. He uses his lower half well and explodes off the rubber, his slider has solid potential as well. In the end, Mariners fans are eagerly waiting his debut and with a good start in the Rookie League, Ford has the chance to be in Modesto at some point in 2023.

9. Jonatan Clase OF | Everett AquaSox (A+)
20-Years-Old | Bats: S | Throws: R | 5’9″ | 150 lbs. | ETA: 2025
Hit | PWR | FLD | SPD | ARM | DISC | Role |

.196 | 117 | 13.4% | 39.8% | 17.6% | 42.6% | 43.8% | 28.8% | 27.4% |
Scouting Report:
Jonatan Clase was signed out of the Dominican Republic in the 2018 J2 signing period. There’s not a lot of home run power in his game, but he’s an above-average hitter and projects for doubles, triples, and stolen bases with his speed. While he is manning center due to his speed coming up, with Julio as a lock for the future and Kelenic in left, Clase should fit in very nicely in right.

10. Axel Sanchez SS | Everett AquaSox (A+)
20-Years-Old | Bats: R | Throws: R | 5’10” | 170 lbs. | ETA: 2025

.227 | 128 | 15.7% | 40.3% | 21.0% | 38.6% | 54.1% | 21.0% | 24.9% |
Scouting Report:
Axel Sanchez’s defense carries his game and looks like he’ll be able to stick at short in the bigs. He’s a defender first who has projectable athleticism and can make tough plays at short. There’s a lot to like about his glove and his bat should keep up with the position
