Scouting Report:

Greene was taking 5th overall out of high school by the Tigers back in the 2019 draft. Greene had an instant impact in his pro debut and moved quickly through three levels of the Tigers system. After receiving an invite to spring training, robbing a HR, showing a max exit velocity of over 115mph, and dominating pitching at big league camp Greene looked poised to continue standing out in 2021. He did just that by first dominating AA with 16 home runs while hitting just under .300 and adding 12 steals. He added on to that by hitting another 8 homeruns in just 40 games with AAA Toledo and showed that the increase in talent level was not something that could intimidate him. When you watch Greene play, his smooth swing pops off the screen. He has excellent bat to ball skills as evidenced by his ability to hit minor league pitching. There are slight concerns with Greene about his strikeout tendencies and running an extremely high BABIP through the minors. Hopefully Detroit will be able to help correct his approach some as to avoid his average dropping once he reaches the bigs. Greene has monster power when he connects right and it especially evident when he pulls the ball. While a lot of scouts lean more toward gap to gap power with Greene, I actually believe he has enough pop and pull in his tendencies to hit for 30 homeruns in the majors. Greene is a solid fielder who could stick in center for a few years, but will probably end up on one of the corners. In 2021, he showed that he possesses more ability to run than most scouts give him credit for going 16 for 17 on the basepaths.

It is likely that Tigers fans will get to see Greene during the 2022 season. With not much depth ahead of him in center, he will even have a chance to earn an opening day role. In 2022 I think it is likely Greene will hit somewhere around .250 and over a full season could hit 20-25 homeruns. The Tigers likely have a future star in Greene, they just have to continue pushing the right development buttons.

Scouting Report:

Jobe had perhaps the best spin rate coming out of the 2021 draft and the best slider in the class with a plus-plus grade for it. His fastball hits 96 mph with life and recorded 2400 rpm on it. His slider has hit low 80s and recorded 3100 rpm and is his best pitch as it has sharp, hooking action. Between his stuff and deception, Jobe will be a top of the rotation.

Scouting Report:

Dingler is a defensive first catcher who does have enough pop in his bat to produce 20-24 homers a season. This is a big improvement since his time at The Ohio State University, when it seemed as though he would have no juice at the plate. His value does come from his above average glove and plus arm behind the plate. Dingler has the chance to win a Gold Glove or two in this career.

Scouting Report:

Madden was one of the most sought after college arms in the 2021 Draft, and Detroit selected him with the 32nd overall pick. The Tigers were ecstatic to grab two high level arms in Madden and Jobe in the first round.

Madden’s best pitch is his FB which sits 94-97 and he has gotten up to 99 on a few occasions. Madden primarily works his FB vertically in the zone, where he gets a lot of swings and misses with the pitch up in the zone due to the velocity and life on the FB. He can overthrow the pitch at times causing some command issues. He compliments his FB with a SL that has solid vertical depth to it and is thrown hard at around 86-88mph. While the pitch doesn’t have a lot of overall break, the vertical break he does get on it is late and just enough to miss barrels and get swings and misses or weak contact. Madden will also mix in a CH from time to time to keep hitters honest. However, his CH does require a lot of work to be a usable tertiary pitch for him. Hitters have shown the ability to pick up his CH well out of his hand as the pitch lacks deception.

Madden has a super strong projectable pitcher’s frame and his mechanics down the mound are smooth. While there are definitely some areas of Madden’s game that need improvement, given time he could develop into a potential middle of the rotation starter or high leverage backend bullpen arm at worst.

Scouting Report:

Izaac Pacheco was taken in the second round of the 2021 draft by the Detroit Tigers. Pacheco is young, having just turned 19 in November. During the draft process scouts raved about the power potential he exhibited. Pacheco stands at 6’4” and swings from the left side. He has a tendency to pull the ball, but as many know combining massive raw power with pull tendencies can lead to some moon-shot homeruns. While the going was not easy for him in the Florida Complex League, he was able to get his feet wet and showed some positives for Detroit fans to be excited about. While the power and hit tools did not show up, his ability to work counts and get on base did. Pacheco walked over 14% of the time, although he struck out over 34% of the time so maybe some plate approach adjustments are needed. It is unlikely that Pacheco will ever hit for a high average as he has a lot of swing and miss tendencies and can get out of sorts at the plate trying to hit too many homeruns. If Pacheco can find a way to cut down on the whiffs and combine his power with good bat control he has a ceiling as high as any other prospect in the Tigers system. While he currently plays SS, it is likely he will need to move to 3B. He has a big frame and is not particularly nimble on his feet. His defense profiles to be well below average if he sticks at SS, but could be closer to average if he shifts to 3B. It is unlikely that he will ever steal many bases, as he figures to continue slowing down as he fills out his frame. At 19 years old, the projections range all over the map for Pacheco. He has the ceiling to be great, but I think it is more likely he profiles as a part time big leaguer. Still, he is somebody for Tigers fans to keep an eye on.

2021 Stats

Scouting Report:

Flores is the younger brother of, you guessed it, San Francisco Giants INF Wilmer Flores. The younger Wilmer was signed up by the Tigers on a low end undrafted free agent deal out of Arizona Western JC, following the shortened 2020 draft. He has turned out to be a huge steal for them. He had a great showing last summer putting up a 12.3 K/9 and a 2.09 FIP between ROK and Class A ball, which awarded him a spot in the 2021 AFL as a 19 year old. He is continuing his run of dominance in 2022 as he is now one of the youngest players in AA.

Flores’ best pitch is his FB which sits in the 93-96mph range and he has hit 98mph on a few occasions. His FB is firm and gets occasional run to it when trying to work in to RHHs . He has had some control issues at times with his FB. He offers two unique breaking balls in a high spin CB in the 77-81mph range, and a SL in the 85-87mph range. The CB is his best breaking pitch, it generates a high rpm to it and he can land it for strikes pretty often. He has shown a lot of confidence throwing the CB in all types of different counts and scenarios. His SL is a recent addition to his arsenal, and has been intriguing to grade. With the lack of track record it is hard to grade the pitch. With that said, hi SL does look to have some promise though as he throws it hard and looks to have sufficient horizontal bite to miss barrels with it. He also throws a mid 80’s CH but shows no real feel for the pitch.

The biggest knock against Flores is that he is likely to become a mid-high leverage bullpen setup arm and not a starter. While he is currently being given the opportunity to start he has been averaging only about 4 IP per outing, and as mentioned above his FB control and overall arsenal command is not the sharpest at times. As a bullpen arm his FB is more likely to sit around the 95-97mph range and he could focus on mainly working a FB/CB heavy repertoire with an occasional SL mixed in to keep hitters honest. He has the ceiling to be a very solid and dependable bullpen arm who puts up some of the better K/9 numbers amongst relievers.

Scouting Report:

Keith was selected in the 5th round in the shortened 2020 draft and the Tigers might’ve found something special in Keith. So far, Keith has been nothing short of great with the bat as he’s showed good bat to ball skills and a solid ability to hit. His left-handed swing is quick, compact, and develops consistent line drive contact. He will have some swing and miss going forward but with his ability to control the zone he should put up respectable walk rates. Keith, should make waves in the Tigers system and if he continues to hit he should be be in the majors by 2024 as he’s showing a massive presence in the Tigers farm system right now and should continue in the future.

Scouting Report:

One of the more exciting prospects on this list. He was signed out of the Dominican Republic for $550K and he’s had a unique career to date. However, 2021 and 2022 have showed a completely different player and he’s show his mixture of contact, speed and some pop as well. He has a more natural swing from the left side and more of his contact will come from the left side. He has a solid ability to spray the ball and has good gap-to-gap power. In the end, his ability to hit outweighs his power and as he’s maturing, Perez should develop a good ability to hit for average and steal some bases in the process. He’s a future top of the lineup bat that can hit 15+ home runs a year. This is a definite prospect to watch as he’s rising quickly and could make his debut in 2023.

Scouting Report:

Murr was a very underrated bat at the college level coming into the draft. While many ACC and NC State fans knew of his ability he did not get a ton of national attention. He went in the 6th round of the 2021 Draft to the Tigers where he signed for below slot value.

Murr got off to a hot start in his pro debut slashing .319/.440/.393 getting up to A+ in his pro debut last summer. Murr’s biggest tool is a contact oriented bat. While he is naturally strong his power is well below league average. Murr sprays line drives line to line and has solid bat to ball skills. He will also draw a fair amount of walks which culminates in impressive BB/K ratios. His BB/K ratio in his pro debut was a very impressive 27 to 29 in 169 ABs.

Murr does have some versatility defensively. He split time between 1B and LF where he has shown pretty solid lateral range for each position. While an average arm will keep him from playing RF as he progresses, his ability to play at least average at LF and 1B will always allow him to have spots to play to get his bat in the lineup.

Scouting Report:

Our youngest player on this list also comes with the most upside in my opinion. Santana was the Tigers main prize signing for $2.95 million. Santana has some of the loudest tools in the system but also some of the rawest. There’s definite power potential in his bat and he’s already solid at controlling the strike zone. He’s extremely athletic and has plus speed to round out his tools. He’s already showing an advanced feel at the plate, once he starts growing into his frame he’ll be a force on both sides of the ball.
