<p>The biggest question mark in Montgomery’s profile is his hit tool. After getting drafted out of high school in 2021, Montgomery impressed in his first taste of pro action at Chicago’s ACL team. Following up on his success this year, Montgomery set Low-A on fire batting .324 and received a promotion after just 45 games. Standing at 6’4”, Montgomery’s swing tends to get lengthy. He has had issues swinging down on the ball which has led to a high percentage of ground balls to start his career. Montgomery has an excellent idea of the strike zone but will need to keep his swing short and consistent in order to ever reach his hitting potential fully.</p>



<p><strong>Power: 55</strong></p>



<p>There are no questions about Montgomery’s ability to square up a baseball. Montgomery’s tall frame and strong pull tendencies help him connect with a ball like few others can. There are not many things prettier than a power swing from the left side. The raw power is there, it is just a matter of whether he can get the ball in the air with enough consistency to ever hit 30 home runs. ; Montgomery is still just 20 years old and already in AA and I am confident he will start unleashing some of his untapped power as he gains experience in a professional setting.</p>



<p><strong>Field: 50 | Arm: 55</strong></p>



<p>There are concerns over Montgomery’s ability to stick at SS. He is big enough making a move to third base a realistic possibility. However, scouts said the same thing about Corey Seager and he has been playing shortstop just fine for years now. Montgomery is not going to be the slickest fielder, but he is more than capable of sticking at the position demonstrating good instincts and a strong knowledge of the game. <p><strong>Dynasty Value:</strong></p>



<p>Montgomery is an interesting case from a dynasty perspective. When you watch Montgomery play, his raw tools instantly jump off the screen. His swing can be beautiful at times and he has shown flashes of being able to hit with some consistency. I believe that Montgomery has what it takes to be a 30-home run bat for fantasy teams, but we likely will not see him until 2024. Tim Anderson has club options for 2023 and 2024, so it would not shock me if the White Sox are grooming Montgomery to be his replacement whenever the White Sox decide to move on. I am high on Montgomery’s dynasty value because of my perception on his ability to stay at short. A power hitting middle infielder could be just what you need to help your dynasty team!<a id="_msocom_1"></a></p>
