<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href=""></a>Trejyn Fletcher is an outfield prospect for the St. Louis Cardinals. After he reclassified, he was drafted in the second round (58 overall) in 2019 out of high school, and he received $1.5 Million to keep him from his Vanderbilt commitment. Some consider him a possible steal in the draft and a brief look at his athleticism tells you why. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Fletcher is a toolsy prospect with a sky-high ceiling but little track record to back it up. With 1 year of pro ball (and 1 year at the alternate site), his athleticism continues to drive his potential. Fletcher may be the most explosive player in the Cardinals system but with that, he has a wide range of potential outcomes.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Out of the draft, Trejyn Fletcher went to the GCL where he showed promise hitting .297. He quickly progressed to Johnson City after 9 games. There he struggled a little more at the plate to the tune of a .271 OBP. His stance starts open with his hands high and his pre-pitch hand movement is little to none, but he finishes with a larger leg kick. He tends to be pull-oriented and has a long swing. He has close to if not elite bat speed thanks to very quick hands. But he is very underdeveloped at the plate and struggles with pitch recognition and poor plate discipline. Evidenced by his 43% K rate and his 6% BB rate. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Power: 30/55 </h2>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Fletcher possesses major raw power. His strength and build allow him to put a charge in the ball. With his big leg kick and long swing, he has legitimate power. As discussed earlier, he struggled to make contact so his numbers don’t show it but if the hit tool comes together he has legitimate 25+ Homerun potential.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Run: 60/60 </h2>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Fletcher is extremely athletic and is extremely explosive in the field and out of the batter’s box. He swiped 7 bags in his 43 games in 2019 and has the potential to swipe more if his hit tool comes along. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Field: 45/55 &#8211; Arm: 50/55 </h2>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Relying on his athleticism Fletcher is an average fielder. He has great range and good closing speed. But as he develops his reads and jumps he will progress to become an above-average fielder. Due to his size and strength, he has a good arm notching 9 assists in his 39 games in the field. He occasionally struggles with overthrowing but as he develops he has the potential to stick in CF.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Summary: </h2>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Trejyn Fletcher has the potential to be an everyday player, especially with the current OF in STL. But he must continue to develop his hit tool, and lower the K rate. He will be interesting to follow next year as he gets his first full year of games.</p>
